Farley’s Friday: Dogs At Play

Farley here,

It’s still winter here in Canada and the golf course is still open for dogs. Also, this week is something called spring break where small humans don’t have to go to school.

That means these little people come to the resort. That’s nice, but what’s really great is they bring their dogs.

Farley and Jessie

This is my friend for life Jessie. She’s supposed to be wrestling with me, but she’s been in the car for a few hours and needs to run. Meanwhile, I’ll just roll around until she’s ready to play.

Freedom to run is the best!

Farley’s Friday: A Wheaten Loves Snow

Farley here,

Humans everywhere are saying they are ready for the end of winter. I don’t get it.

I flattened myself into the side of a steep snowbank on my driveway. I just hung out there feeling good.

A dog can’t do this in summer. Summer is hot. I’ll have to get my hair cut shorter – then I’m just not as cool looking. AND I’ll have to find spots to hide in the shade.

Winter rocks. Maybe I should move to the north pole and live with Santa Claus.

Farley’s Friday: Smelly Dogs Need A Bath!

Farley here,

This whole event was Piper’s fault. She’s a border terrier and likes to roll in stuff.

I’m not sure how her antics evolved into me getting a bath, but she rolled in some kind of fuel and out came the soap.

My humans are excited that she smells. Like she doesn’t smell all the time, so they plop her in the bath. You can see how much she loves it.

Piper in Bath

I’m rolling on the carpet laughing when Kristina says, “You too.”

“What?” I bark. “I don’t stink.”

I run and hide under the table, but it’s no use. Within seconds I’m in the tub too.

Farley in Tub

Silly Piper. I’ll have to train her not to roll in stinky stuff. Now we both smell of soap.

Farley’s Friday: What’s for dinner?

Farley here,

Humans are odd. They bring rodents into the house and expect me not to chase them.

I can see them hiding behind the glass door! They’re holding these things called Guinea Pigs. They squeak. They run in bursts. So tempting…

I’m a wheaten terrier, stress the terrier. I just want a little sniff of the creatures.

What harm could that do?

Farley’s Friday: Who Needs A Toy?

Farley here,

My humans think nature should provide toys. Sometimes another human will bring a dog toy into our house, but mostly it’s up to me to find toys in the forest. Sticks are great, but even in the wilderness they can be hard to find.

Not in  summer maybe, but buried beneath the snow, they can be tricky to locate. I have  good nose for it. Finn waits until I find something, and then he wants it.

Farley and Finn

Mathew may have the stick, but who will get it?

Finn is fast, but I’m persistent.

Can you guess who ended up carrying it?

Farley’s Friday: I Found My Human

Farley here,

I’m playing in the snow, sniffing for hidden treasure, when I smell her. I know she’s close. I lift my head, alert to any sounds.

Her scent is strong now, and I break into a run. I’m too excited to think. She’s been gone for so long, I can hardly believe she’s in the neighborhood again.

Farley with Boots

Now I see her, and burst toward her. I feel true happiness. My human is back. I have no idea where she’s been, and all I want now is a cuddle.

Farley Running

I drag her home and sit on her. I’m not letting her go. Kristina is my human.

Farley’s Friday: What’s A Cat Doing With My Human?

Farley here,

I’m still pining for Kristina. She says she’ll be home soon, but what does that mean?

I’m going to stare out this window until she gets here. Don’t get me wrong. The people taking care of me are really nice. They feed me, walk me, and let me sleep in their beds. It doesn’t get better than that. but I have a special connection with my human and I want her back.

farley-pining

To make things worse,  look what I caught her doing!

Sheba.JPG

There is a cat on her lap. Really, that’s just too much. It’s bad enough I’m lonely. She better get home soon and explain this to me.

Farley’s Friday: Where Oh Where is my human?

Farley here,

Does anyone know where Kristina went? Every morning I get up and check the house. I sniff each room, I run around the backyard perimeter, and I even looked behind a big tree.

No luck.

I’m starting to miss her.

The humans taking care of me are great. Their only issue…They don’t allow dogs in the bed…

farley-and-piper

But you know me. Big brown eyes. A wagging tail. And I’m in. Piper, the border terrier, follows my lead. She’s in too!  I’m going to sleep here every night until I see Kristina.

PS. In case you didn’t know, Kristina’s books are all on sale  I’m the star in BLAZE.

Farley’s Friday: Puppy Days

Farley here,

Sometimes Kristina likes to look at pictures of me when I was a puppy. Check out the “stick” I’m playing with.

Kristina threw it and said, “Fetch.”

I trotted after it, lay down, and chewed it. Like I’d pick something up and bring it back to her. No matter how hard she tried, I wouldn’t return with the stick. Finally I told her, ” It’s a twig not a stick.”

She laughed. “Come on, Farley. You can do it.”

Of course I could. But would I chose to? That’s the important question.

Farley Puppy

I think I was pretty cute and wagged my tail at her. No fetching a twig for me. And just so you know, to this day, I’ve never fetched a stick.
