ANNOUNCING DEAL FOR AVALANCHE -A STONE MOUNTAIN MYSTERY #3

One of the most exciting days in the life of an author is the day she receives a contract for her latest novel.

The she, of course, is me.

Imajin Logo

Canadian Publisher, Imajin Books, has bought the print and eBook rights to AVALANCHE. Thank you Cheryl Kaye Tardif ,CEO of Imajin books, for believing in me and for this wonderful opportunity.

AVALANCHE is the third book in the Stone Mountain Mystery Series. DESCENT and BLAZE are the first two. Also published by Imajin Books.

On a cold winter morning, deep in the Purcell Mountains, the safe at Stone Mountain Resort is robbed hours before Kalin Thompson’s brother, Roy, disappears in an avalanche.

Under normal circumstances, as the director of security, Kalin would lead the investigation into the theft, but Roy is the prime suspect. The police and the president of the resort turn their sights on Kalin. She’s told to stay clear of the investigation and risks her job to covertly attempt to clear Roy’s name.

Threats against Kalin escalate as she gets closer to the truth. Is her faith in her brother justified? Was the avalanche an accident or did something more sinister happen? And is the truth worth destroying her life for?

I’m proud to be associated with Imajin Books and am excited about what’s to come.

Crime Writers’ Association Interviews Kristina Stanley

I had the honour of being interviewed by Kate White, Head of Press, at the Crime Writers’ Association about my experience having BLAZE shortlisted for the Debut Dagger in 2014. Here’s the kickoff to the interview.

If you’re just starting out and haven’t published yet, The Debut Dagger is a great way to garner interest in your novel. Be brave and submit. You just never know where it will lead.

AV1DEBUT DAGGER TIPS: KRISTINA STANLEY

3/02/2016 by The CWA 1

Prepare to be deeply jealous when you find out the circumstances in which Kristina Stanley penned her Debut Dagger shortlisted novel, Blaze. However, despite a deeply glamourous writing story, the Canadian newcomer faced the same struggle as all other would-be authors as she approached getting published. Here Kristina explains how getting on the Debut Dagger shortlist changed everything, and why she thinks it’s a brilliant gateway for writers to get their work noticed.

What made you decide to enter Blaze in for the 2014 Debut Dagger competition?

When Kalin Thompson is promoted to Director of Security at Stone Mountain Resort, she soon becomes entangled in the high-profile murder investigation of an up-and-coming Olympic-caliber skier. There are more suspects with motives than there are gates on the super-G course, and danger mounts with every turn.

Instead of exchanging vows, Kalin Thompson spends her wedding day running from a forest fire near Stone Mountain Resort, and the pregnant friend trapped with her has just gone into labor. How to announce something so exciting…I’ve signed a deal with Luzifer-Verlag for the the print and ebook rights for the German translation of DESCENT.

Screen Shot 2016-01-26 at 6.25.11 AM

How did this happen?

Liliana Conn translated the English version of DESCENT in to German. My publisher, Imajin Books and Cheryl Kaye Tardiff, brokered the deal. Essentially, my publisher acted as my agent. I can’t thank Liliana, Cheryl and Luzifer-Verlag enough for supporting me.

What happens next?

A new book cover for DESCENT to fit the German market.

Final translation and editing of the German version.

Off to print DESCENT goes.

I’ll let you know how this goes and what I learn in the process.

What is DESCENT about?

When Kalin Thompson is promoted to Director of Security at Stone Mountain Resort, she soon becomes entangled in the high-profile murder investigation of an up-and-coming Olympic-caliber skier. There are more suspects with motives than there are gates on the super-G course, and danger mounts with every turn.

Kalin’s boss orders her to investigate. Her boyfriend wants her to stay safe and let the cops do their job. Torn between loyalty to friends and professional duty, Kalin must look within her isolated community to unearth the killer’s identity.

If you’d like to try DESCENT in English, you can find it at: myBook.to/Descent

Has anyone else had their book translated to another language? I’d love to know what your learned in the process.

THE BIG THRILL Interviews Kristina Stanley

For an exciting start to the new year, exciting for me anyway, THE BIG THRILL magazine published an interview of me.

THE BIG THRILL is published by The International Thriller Writers. It is an honorary society of authors, both fiction and nonfiction, who write books broadly classified as “thrillers.” This would include (but isn’t limited to) such subjects as murder mystery, detective, suspense, horror, supernatural, action, espionage, true crime, war, adventure, and myriad similar subject areas.

Here’s the start….

Blaze by Kristina Stanley

BLAZE CoverKristina Stanley, former director of security at a ski resort, is the author of the Stone Mountain Mystery Series.

She loves to write about remote locations, and living in North America, Europe, Asia and the Caribbean fired up her imagination, but it was after she moved to a small resort town that the transient community, consisting of people from all over the world, inspired her to write about the day-to-day drama of living in an isolated mountain resort.

In July 2015, Stanley published Descent, introducing readers to Kalin Thompson, a big-city woman who moves to Stone Mountain Resort hoping a drastic change to her life will help her recover from the death of her husband. She gets more change than she expected. Kalin arrives as the human resources manager and after only months on the job she’s thrown into the role of security director.

BLAZE is the second book in this series…

For the rest of the review head to THE BIG THRILL The online publication of international thriller writers.

For one more day only, DESCENT is on sale for 0.99 USD and BLAZE is on sale for 1.99 USD.
